Case Study · 11 months
How a Smoky Mountains cabin rental brand grew clicks from Google 6.6x, more than tripled monthly search impressions (130K to 450K), ranked for 26,311 keywords, and drove $309,775 in direct booking revenue in the first fourteen months. Every traffic number here is measured in Google Search Console and Google Analytics, not estimated by a third-party tool.
Hockey Stick SEO
Organic search sessions per month from the customer's own Google Analytics, January 2025 through July 2026. GA tracking was offline during the September–October 2025 site rebuild — shown as a gap, not a zero. Hover any month for the numbers, including AI-assistant referrals.
The engagement began in June 2025, and the site's Search Console property started tracking that August. In September 2025, its first full month of tracking, GSC recorded 788 clicks from Google search. Their cabins, their guest experience, and their team were already excellent. What they were missing was a search footprint that matched the quality of the operation — and a content engine that could keep up with the pace the market demanded. By July 2026 that same Search Console report read 5,195 monthly clicks and 450,482 impressions, appearing for 26,311 distinct search queries, with 34,300 total clicks and 3.76 million impressions accumulated across the engagement.
Hemlock Hills did not "just publish more content." They published the right content — 176 articles and counting — consistently, in the structure Google rewards. Pillar pages anchored each major topic cluster across Sevierville, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge. Cluster articles answered the long-tail questions guests actually search. Every article cited real details from the 41-cabin portfolio, real local context, and real guest experience — not generic AI fluff. The result is a site whose growth curve doesn't plateau like most content programs, because each new article reinforces the topical authority of every article around it.
Organic traffic only matters if it converts. The articles were built around buying-intent keywords ("cabins with hot tubs," "pet-friendly cabins in the Smokies," "cabins for groups of 12") with property listings woven into the content where the reader's intent is highest. By the time a visitor finishes an article, they're looking at a specific cabin that matches what they searched for — and the booking link is right there. The citability work shows up in Google Analytics too: the AI Assistant channel — visitors referred by ChatGPT and its peers — has logged 414 sessions at a 97% engagement rate, the most engaged traffic source on the entire site.
The playbook
Bookings followed traffic
| Month | Last Year | This Year | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| February | $7,283 | $12,338 | +69% |
| March | $12,443 | $35,838 | +188% |
| April | $13,304 | $29,358 | +121% |
| May | $12,692 | $20,818 | +64% |
$52,630.63 in additional direct booking revenue over these four months — a 115% lift vs. the prior year. Across the full engagement, June 2025 through July 2026, direct bookings totaled $309,775 — with $358,569 booked through the end of 2026, future stays included.
These are the numbers from one operator over one eleven-month window, measured in Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and their own booking reports rather than third-party traffic estimates. The playbook — pillar content, real data, AI-search-ready structure, consistent publishing — is the same one we ship to every InkSTR customer from day one.
